Have you ever looked at an amazing styled wedding shoot and wondered “howww did they do all of that?” Have you ever wanted to know who arranged the shoot, was there a planner, did the photographer pay the suppliers, who are these perfect photogenic couples, is this ethereal location even on earth!?
If so, you have come to the right place!
Before I became a wedding photographer, I shot mainly fashion and events. I absolutely love editorial fashion, whether in or out of a studio, and a lot of my experience in this area is used when setting up my styled wedding shoots.
Over time, I have discovered that styled shoots are an incredibly important and integral part of becoming the kind of wedding photographer you dream of becoming. Not only does it stir your creativity when you’re otherwise going crazy beneath a sea of ‘wediting’ or when you’re just not finding the right weddings for you, but it also brings you together with wonderful wedding industry suppliers (who may refer you to their clients later on!). Styled shoots can also garner a hell of a lot of free advertising through wedding blogs or proper promotion of your own blog/social media outlets, they can even begin to change wedding trends by introducing to the public new and inventive ideas for styling. And most importantly of all – it can help present your true shooting/editing style to your potential couples. Whether you prefer to shoot quite traditionally or completely off the wall, by simply having the freedom to shoot whatever you love most, you should begin to attract those elusive “perfect” clients.
