A very sunny city wedding with lots of grafitti and confetti – Emily & Graham
If you’re looking for a dose of colour to brighten up your day right now, then you’ve come to the right place!
Emily & Graham’s big day was filled with colour. From the masses of wild flowers to the graffiti during their portraits to the balloons filled with confetti on the dancefloor that everyone popped as they danced.
You just KNOW when a couple has been true to themselves and organised their day EXACTLY how they know they wanted it by wide their grins are all day.
One of my favourite photographs of Emily & Graham is the natural shot I got of them absolutely laughing their heads off at something a friend was saying (see below). They say you can’t hear photographs, and yet…

So what’s the trick to having a colourful, carefree, laughter filled day that feels super personal and still incredibly stylish?
One word: ORGANISATION
Emily and I bonded over one main thing during the planning procedure – our love of lists and excel spreadsheets. Ooh I do love an organised lady! And honestly, this is something I have preached from the start – if you are super laid back person and you want the whole process to be laid back too, as well as the wedding day, you HAVE to get organised! There is no point swanning along for months leaving everything to the last minute – that is a sure-fire one-way ticket to Stressville. Who wants to be experiencing their wedding and wondering if people and things are going to turn up!? 12-24 months before- get stuck in, get things ticked off, then on the day everything flooowwwwws like butter. And even if one or two things do end up going wrong, at least it’s not EVERYTHING going wrong. The successes of the day will have you so chilled out that you won’t care about the small things.
I’ll let Emily & Graham tell you more about their methods in their own words…

WEDDING PLANNING AND ADVICE
Emily says “I am an organisation/control freak so the planning was really smooth, I really enjoyed it and enjoyed my colour-coded spreadsheet. I was quite decisive and knew what I wanted so just went with it. It was only towards the final few weeks it got a bit overwhelming; the rings weren’t ready (even though we had ordered them at Christmas), the groomsmen’s suits arrived in the wrong sizes and had been scheduled for the wrong date (luckily our best man spotted the date was wrong on the order form when he went to get measured).
Graham says “I followed orders for the most part. I did have creative control over the playlists however, there was some deep agonising over which songs made the list.”

TOP TIP
Do what you want with your wedding styling etc, but refrain from telling too many people about it!
You’ll often get a puzzled look or “I’ve not heard of that before!!” or “why are you doing that??” and you start doubting yourself or getting defensive over it. I decided early on I’d just get on with it and trust my ideas. Also, I’d often tell people that I didn’t want to talk about the wedding, it becomes all-consuming and sometimes you just don’t want to talk about it.

OUR FAVOURITE PARTS OF THE DAY
Emily says “I ate 4 croissants for my breakfast on the day of the wedding after being on a diet, it was wonderful that they wouldn’t have time to turn to fat. Seriously though, it’s so hard to narrow it down to one thing! The whole day was just absolutely perfect but I remember just being so excited to walk down the aisle so I could see Graham. The morning had been so lovely (what with the croissants and all that) and I was excited to find out how he was doing and I couldn’t wait to share the day with him! I remember just beaming when I saw him.”
Graham says “The ceremony was a little bit nerve-racking! I was ok as all of my parts were fairly easy but I was nervous for my siblings and friends doing their readings! The weather was incredible and the church had a lovely courtyard so it was great seeing everybody and having a couple of drinks in the sunshine after the ceremony. After that, we also got to spend some time alone for the first time that day. I also loved walking around the Baltic Triangle in the sunshine getting our couple portraits taken by Amy. And I loved our wedding outfits. And everybody was in good spirits and wishing us well. It all felt great!”

WHY WE CHOSE AMY
Emily says “We chose Amy because her photos are awesome and beautiful, not stiff and boring. A question a family member asked when we got our photos was ‘oh you haven’t got a photo of you both signing the register?’ and I was like, ‘yep, exactly!'”
Graham says “Because Emily recommended her! I also liked that the photos didn’t look that staged, I usually find getting my photo taken a bit tiresome, however, Amy’s whole process felt more natural and captured us just being ourselves.”

OUR FAVOURITE PHOTO
We really like the dancefloor photos where we are bursting the confetti balloons, it really captured the spirit of the day.

AND FINALLY…
Enjoy every single minute, Emily is insanely jealous of you because the best day ever hasn’t happened yet. Do whatever you want, don’t put pressure on yourself and enjoy the planning. Don’t get stressed, it isn’t worth it, the day will be perfect anyway!
Try to pace yourself, you don’t have to accept every free drink that’s offered! Graham learnt this the hard way.
