Pampas grass and crystal: a boho wedding at OH ME OH MY Liverpool – Sereena & Kev

I’m 2 weeks away from starting my 2019 season in earnest and I am spending a lot of that time reminiscing about my amazing 2018 season and trying to honour all of the awesome couples that created such a brilliant part of my ongoing photography career.

The best way I think I can honour past couples is to dedicate a small part of my online world to them – a blog post highlighting all of their individuality and uniqueness, something that their family & friends can look at and share as well as something my future and potential couples can admire and take advice from.

So here we are, kicking off with a bloody gorgeous Liverpool wedding with soooo many boho quirks that are destined to get your Pinterest finger itching.

Sereena & Kev were so easy going and their mates were all immediately up for a laugh, my job was made 100x easier off the bat. And because the wedding was taking place in one of my faaaavourite wedding venues ever, OH ME OH MY, I knew I was about to embark on another memorable shindig.

Now, as you know, I’m a photographer, not a magician – everything I do comes from years of experience, not the wave of a wand. But, as I’ve been told MANY times, when you see the magic connection between the wedding couples in my portraits you’d be forgiven in thinking I had whispered some incantation over them to eradicate their camera shyness. But no. This is not so. All I ask for in return for my experience is your trust. This is what makes true magic happen! Which is what Sereena & Kev did perfectly. Shooting with them was an absolute pleasure and a bloody good laugh.

And due to that experience, trust and magic, we managed to get one of their portraits on the cover of Your Merseyside & Cheshire Wedding Magazine! CHECK OUT THE IMAGE BELOW!

Amy we love these! Thank you so much! We can’t wait to see the rest of them now - Sereena + Kev

OUR FAVOURITE PARTS OF THE DAY

Our favourite part was probably the reception. Being surrounded by everyone we love, knowing that they were all there to celebrate our day with us, was amazing.

Also heading off with Amy to shoot our couples photos and having that time together was so special.

WEDDING PLANNING AND ADVICE

The planning involved a lot of DIY by myself, Kevin and the bridesmaids. My bridesmaids helped by making metres and metres of macrame bunting. The flower crowns the bridesmaid wore were made the day before by my chief bridesmaid. We made all the decorations, table names and table plan ourselves too.

I made my own veil for a FIVER!!

All the DIY was definitely worth it on the day. It can be stressful, things go wrong (I never want to look at another chalk pen ever again), but it was so worth it. I love looking at the photographs and seeing the venue looking amazing.

WHY WE CHOSE AMY

We chose Amy as our photographer because we were looking for something a bit different.

We didn’t want thousands of pictures outside the church. We wanted shots of us that we would treasure, that we would look back on and say “we loved our wedding and we loved how it was captured”.

We also wanted our city to be a big part of our wedding so we love that Amy took us for a wander through the fair across the road beside the Liver Building. You allowed our personalities, and those of our friends and family, to shine through on the photographs.

OUR FAVOURITE PHOTOS

Our favourites of the two of us are the ones you took of us outside that big green door. They are stunning! I love the colours, the way my veil is floating and how happy we look. We will treasure them forever.

AND FINALLY…

Go with your vision, don’t try and please everyone else. Take time for each other on the day, have half an hour on your own to take it all in…

Final note… book Amy as your photographer, she is great!
