And if you’re not a fan of The Smiths, those lyrics probably zoomed straight over your head! So let me explain further…
I knew I had fallen head over heels for this couple the moment we talked about their choice of wedding venue – Manchester Art Gallery. They were given a choice of location in the gallery for their drinks reception, either a gallery dedicated to works of art about “Love” or works of art about “War”. Hannah and Paddy took one look at each other and harmonised “WAR!” Perfect.
As you can tell I love it when brides and grooms break tradition and run their wedding day exactly as they want, without question and without interruption. Hannah & Paddy did JUST that. The bride opted out of wearing a white dress and instead wore a chic white suit from The Kooples, the groom visited the bride in her hotel room for a drink during bridal prep, they did their couple portraits before the ceremony in order to spend more time with their guests later, we also nipped into an underground favourite bar of the grooms for a quick tipple during their portrait time, their floral arrangements included absolutely NO florals whatsoever and were, instead, bunches of the mostly beautiful greenery you ever saw, the bride & groom walked up the aisle together, and the evening ended with all of the guests walking to a dark cocktail bar where the wedding cake was displayed, made completely of cheese (which they did not cut)!
If there was ever an anti-wedding, this was it!
However, I can positively say that there is nothing anti about the unwavering love Hannah & Paddy have for one another. Spending just one day with them was enough for me to see how mad they are for one another; best friends as well as partners. Their close knit group of friends and adoring families are certainly a testament to how wonderful these two human beings are.
I hope you enjoy their pictures.
