Feathers, hydrangeas and Scrabble wedding at OH ME OH MY – Lianne + Chris
I know it seems so much hotter at the moment, but for one last day, it is still technically Spring! So that has recently got me thinking about blossomy-coloured blooms, new life and… FEATHERS! 😀
And Lianne & Chris’s wedding had a mixture of all 3 of those things!
Lianne was pregnant at the time of her wedding and she looked completely resplendent in her feathery shouldered Halfpenny London dress. Her bridesmaids were rocking their scuba material dresses holding massive bunches of pink hydrangeas, one of my all time favourite flowers. And Chris… well, he was looking super dapper in tweed.
One of the things I love about city weddings is that the venues are usually so close together that you can walk from one to the other, which is exactly what Lianne & Chris did. St Nick’s church is literally 3 minutes walk from OH ME OH MY (which is a pretty cool venue you can find listed in my recent 34 Quirky + Alternative Wedding Venues in the North of England blog post) so the happy couple (who were literally bursting sunbeams out of their newly married faces) lead everyone from the church towards the much-anticipated glasses of Prosecco and bottles of beer awaiting their arrival at OH ME OH MY.
Anyway, I will let Lianne & Chris tell you more about their gorgeous city wedding in their own words…
That's fantastic!!! We love it, thank you. Been a day of audiovisual treats as we got to see our little monkey on screen again at my hozzie appointment! - Lianne + Chris
OUR FAVOURITE PARTS OF THE DAY
Lianne – “My favourite part of the wedding day was walking into the church to a song that is very special to us. I had been dreading walking down the aisle because I felt really self-conscious being 6 months pregnant on the hottest day of the year but seeing Chris at the end and all our friends and family looking so happy for us immediately banished any nerves.”
WEDDING PLANNING AND ADVICE
We had nearly two years to plan the wedding which took away some of the pressure. We wanted the day to be about us getting married and frequently said that as long as the church didn’t burn down that it would all be OK!
Our cake had a Mrs and Mrs topper which I had ordered and not noticed which made everyone laugh.
WHY WE CHOSE AMY
We chose Amy as we had seen her work on Instagram and we really liked her aesthetic and that her images seem to document the day without looking too staged or contrived.
We really enjoyed working with Amy and everyone commented on how they didn’t even notice that she was there! She was able to put me at ease during the bridal prep and was on hand to impart last-minute pearls of wisdom about things that I hadn’t even considered like how soon to put on my wedding dress!
OUR FAVOURITE PHOTOS
Our favourite photo is a portrait on Drury Lane of us both looking at each other and laughing – it captures the spirit of our city wedding and how happy we are.
The most important thing really is getting married. All the other stuff will fall into place: everyone there just wants you to be happy and there is so much love in the room that none of the other things really matter.
Enjoy it! Don’t sweat the small stuff.
